Fall in Louisville is pure magic — golden leaves, crisp air, and the perfect excuse to pull out your coziest layers. It’s also one of my favorite seasons for family sessions because the colors and textures feel so warm and inviting.
But let’s be real — figuring out what everyone should wear can feel overwhelming. My best advice? Keep it simple, neutral, and true to your family’s personality. Here’s how:
1. Start With Neutrals
Cream, taupe, camel, soft sage, dusty blue — these colors photograph beautifully and let the connection between your family shine.
2. Add Gentle Layers
Think cozy cardigans, a textured scarf, or a quilted vest. Layers add depth without distracting from faces and emotion.
3. Mix Textures, Not Patterns
Knit sweaters, linen dresses, corduroy pants — texture brings visual interest without the busyness of big prints.
4. Coordinate, Don’t Match
Choose a color palette and pull different shades for each family member. This creates harmony without feeling too “matchy.”
5. Keep Comfort in Mind
If you feel good, you’ll look good. Choose pieces you can move, cuddle, and play in.
And remember — my client closet is always available if you need a little extra help pulling things together.
