Welcoming a new little one into the family is such a tender, fleeting season and I had the sweetest time documenting the [Last Name] family as they celebrated their second baby in my Louisville studio. Hannah and Jeff brought along their toddler, Jack (1.5 years old), and of course their brand-new baby, who was such a dream.
As a Louisville newborn photographer, my goal is always to create a calm, welcoming environment where families can simply be together. This session was filled with soft snuggles, playful moments with big brother, and timeless family portraits that I know will be cherished for years to come.
A Calm + Joyful Studio Newborn Session
Hannah arrived in the prettiest light blue gingham dress that paired perfectly with her boys’ soft blue outfits. The neutral, natural light studio setting allowed their love and connection to shine. Jack was so curious and playful and the secret to his big smiles? Animal noises! He absolutely lit up every time we made them.
We moved through a mix of candid and posed moments everything from quiet newborn snuggles to family group portraits. The balance of natural, cozy images with classic portraits is something many of my families love.
Big Brother Moments
One of my favorite parts of this session was watching Jack step into his new role as big brother. At just a year and a half old, he’s still very much a baby himself which made those little moments of curiosity and affection toward his new sibling all the sweeter.
Documenting siblings at this stage is so important. Their relationship will change quickly, and these images capture a time that parents will never get back. From his playful grins to the way he leaned into snuggles, Jack was the star of the show.
Why Studio Sessions Are So Special
While in-home sessions are wonderful, studio newborn photography offers something unique a simple, neutral space free from distractions. The soft window light, cozy textures, and intentionally minimal setting allow the focus to remain on your baby and family.
Hannah and Jeff wanted both candid and posed photos, and the studio was the perfect backdrop for both. From barefoot family snuggles to classic portraits with each parent, every image feels clean, timeless, and full of emotion.
Planning Your Own Newborn Session in Louisville
If you’re expecting, now is the perfect time to reserve your newborn session. I recommend booking during your second or early third trimester to ensure a spot on my calendar, since babies don’t always arrive on their due dates.
In my studio sessions, I provide:
- A soft, natural-light space designed for newborns and families
- Access to a curated client closet with neutral, flattering wardrobe options
- Guidance for relaxed posing, so you can simply enjoy being with your baby
- A gallery that blends timeless portraits with candid, emotional storytelling
Whether you’re welcoming your first baby or your fourth, your newborn session should feel calm, heartfelt, and tailored to your family.
